Why You Need Auto Insurance

Auto insurance is important for several reasons, one of the most important being it is required by law. In most states you cannot drive on public roads if you do not have auto insurance. You do not need the most extensive coverage, but you must at least have liability. And if you have a car loan, your lender might require comprehensive and collision coverage.

You should at least have your state’s minimum liability coverage. That is usually the least expensive option when it comes to auto insurance. If you are involved in a car accident that you caused, your liability coverage would pay for physical damage and medical bills for the other person.

To get better coverage for yourself, you would have to purchase more than just liability. Comprehensive coverage pays for damage to your car caused by non-accident occurrences. Collision pays if you collide with an object, no matter if it is a car or not.

Your car insurance agent might offer you a few options for your policy. These are not necessary, but are helpful additions such as roadside assistance, rental insurance, gap insurance, and accident forgiveness.

If you are driving without auto insurance, then you are taking a risk. Speak with an insurance agent as soon as possible to learn your insurance options.
